Trust is the Only Option

 Trust-  To expect or confide, commit, have faith, properly build up or support, assurance, steadfast, being obedient or believing.

Often times we are placed in situations beyond our control and we have to trust in someone or something to pull us through. For a Christian we are taught to trust in God, but it seems to be the hardest principle to grasp.

When we board planes, we trust that in the event of an emergency, the oxygen masks will fall down, the seats can be used as floatation devices, and the emergency exits will work. So, during our flights we are ease that the pilot will guide us through turbulence and inclimate weather. But when it comes down to God saying trust him to take care of us we enter panic mode and try to manipulate the situation to work out in our favor or attempt “damage control.”

In Proverbs 3:5-6, The wise King Solomon wrote these words,”Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.”

King Solomon grasped the concept that his “own” way wasn’t reliable and he needed to guidance of God to do ANYTHING. This passage of scripture also serves as a command from God to trust him. For when we trust God it activates our faith and ultimately pleases God. {Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”}

The Message Trust Sends to God

1. When you trust God, you’re simply saying “Father I know that you’re acting as an Agent on my behalf. You will work out the best deal for me and lead me down the right path.”  Just as athletes, actors, musicians, and anyone that requires representation trust their agents/advocates to decide what’s best for them, whether it be for monentary gain, publicity, or to accomplish a goal. We have to trust in God just as we’d trust in our Lawyers, Doctors, etc.

  2.  When you trust God, you give your spirit freedom to operate freely because it is not grieved by the circumstantial. Let’s face it worry is a DIRECT contradiction to Trust. Worrying is straddling the fence between what is visable and what’s invisable. When we worry about a situation that God has confirmed that he would handle we essentially tie up the outcome, making the process longer than it has to be. When you trust God your faith in him causes him to move swiftly. He moves swiftly because your faith makes him a proud father and he would do anything for his baby boy/girl. {Matthew 6:27 “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”}

3. Trust is simply God’s protection of his Assets… You.  You are an asset to the Kingdom of God and God will do whatever it takes to protect you. Car accidents, tragedies, death, are all the things God can shield us from if we’d just trust in him totally. We have to believe in the plan for our lives God has set out for us. {Jeremiah 29:11″ I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.”}

What happens when you don’t trust

1.    We create Ishmael when God already had an Isaac in the making. (Genesis 16) God told Sarah that he’d open her womb and that she’d produce a son, although Sarah believed God for a son, she didn’t believe that he was working fast enough. So Sarah invited another woman into her bedroom to concieve a child for her husband. In the long run Sarah regretted what she’d done and despised her decision. If she’d only waited until God was ready she would have eleviated the pressure she put her husband Abraham under when he was forced to out his son Ishmael and his mother away.

 2.  We worry- {Matthew 6:34 “So don’t ever worry about tomorrow. After all, tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”}

3. We lose strength spiritual and physical. {Isaiah 40:31″ But those who trust in the LORD for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.}

 Conclusion

To be able to live at ease upon the earth, we must trust in the creator of the earth for all that we need. When the enemy attacks us physically and spiritually our faith should activate and our Father will come to our rescue because we have pleased him by trusting him. “Faith isn’t faith until it’s  all you have left”
