The Delivered State of Mind

Altar Call is the Beginning

At most services altar call is a time to commit to “the way” of the cross, lay aside sin, and join the fellowship of suffering with Jesus Christ.  Most people have misconstrued the power that they have at the altar. The same power it took to make the decision to walk to the altar and repeat the “Sinner’s Prayer” is the same power that we possess in our minds to STAY delivered. Altar Call is just the beginning of a Delivered State of Mind. Walk with me as I divulge in this subject.

A Renewed Mind

The Apostle Paul said it best in Romans 12:2:

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your MIND, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” {KJV}

“Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you THINK. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.” {God’s Word Translation}

 “And do not ye be conformed to this world, but be ye reformed in newness of your WIT, that ye prove which is the will of God, good, and well pleasing, and perfect.” {Wycliffe New Testament}

“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even THINKING. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” {The Message Translation}

In Paul’s letter to the Roman church he was in every respect stating that Salvation and Deliverance was a MINDSET. Which means that it is totally an individual decision. When people leave the altars of our sanctuaries, or after our witness to them we must impart to them the power they have over their MINDSET.

Satan’s first tactic is to attack the mind, for if he infiltrates the cavities of the mind he can have to whole body. When Jesus told Peter in Luke 22:31“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat,” he wasn’t talking about having him in the physical sense, he was speaking having his mind so that he could destroy Peter.  When we accept Christ Satan immediately begins to play mind games by telling us all the “worldly” pleasures we are sacrificing, places we can’t go, habits we have to break, and relationships we have to distance ourselves  from. Satan paints the picture that perfection is a “must” and if we fall we cannot be reconciled. Thus, causing “backsliding” Christians. But God already knows Satan’s divisive tactic, which is why he has bonded himself to backsliders. {Jeremiah 3:14} “Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion” {KJV}

How to Keep a Delivered State of Mind

To keep a delivered state of mind, we must recognize the power of  “no” and the consequences of compromise:  {Matthew 5:37}”Simply say yes or no. Anything more than that comes from the evil one.” {God’s Word Translation} Jesus tells the disciples in this passage that you must have an assurance about the “declarations”  you make.

The more you tell Satan no and resist him the more powerful you become and in your mindset of deliverance: {James 4:7} “Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.” {God’s Word Translation}

After you’ve told Satan “no” you have to die to your “MIND” (flesh) daily: {Luke 9:23} If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”{KJV}

You have to keep your mind strengthened by studying the Word of the Lord: {II Timothy 2:15} “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” {KJV}

You have to continue doing what God has instructed YOU to do in regards to your deliverance: {Philippians 2:12} “What I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.” (The Message Translation}

Keep a Heavenly Mindset: {Colossians 3:1-2 }”If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” {KJV}

Walk in the Spirit: {Galatians 5:16-17) “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” {KJV}

Actively apply the word to your life: {James 1:22-15} “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” {KJV}

Understand  the power of reconciliation and your Friendship with Jesus:

{Romans 8:1} “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” {KJV}

{Romans 5:1} “For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” {NIV}

{John 15:15}”For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” {NIV}

Have the peace of God: {Philippians 4:7} “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” {NIV}

Like the lyrics in a popular song from The Clark Sisters: “My Mind is made up,I’m on my way up,I’m going to hold my head up, Going on with the Lord.” We have to exude that same confidence in our deliverance.  If you have the confidence in knowing that you are set free from sin, die daily to your flesh, and walk in the spirit, my friends you are living with “A Delivered State of Mind!”

    What a powerfully practical exhortation! The Word is irrefutable, and you did an awesome job of putting GOD’s truth out there so plainly.
